2 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup yogurt
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup Warm water
2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
- Topping
Minced garlic
Cilantro
Onion seeds (kalonji)
Butter
Directions
- Put the dry ingredients in a bowl, to that add 1 tbsp oil, and yogurt and mix well. Now use warm water to knead the dough until soft and fluffy. The dough will be slightly wet and sticky, use some more oil to smooth the dough and let it sit for 30 mins covered with a kitchen towel.
- After 30 mins smooth out the dough and divide it into 8 equal potions.
- When ready, heat the pan on high flame, roll out the dough, wet it generously on the top side and carefully lift it, slap the wet side down on the hot pan. The dough will start bubbling, when you see the bubbles, flip the pan upside down and start moving it in circular motion to cook the top side of your naan on flame. Your naan is now ready to serve. Enjoy!
- Note: For garlic naan, spread crushed garlic and fresh coriander on the top of the naan and press firmly until it sticks, now carefully lift the rolled naan, wet the back side of the naan and slap the wet side on the hot pan, continue to cook it like usual. When the naan is hot off the pan, quickly spread melted butter on the garlic side of the naan. Enjoy!!
Your recipe says 2 tbsp of oil but then you only put one in. What are we supposed to do?
I add 2, the video doesn’t show it.
